Corona and the Virtual Space Revolution
UNPAK - Corona virus that is becoming a pandemic in the world makes people forced to think hard to overcome it.
Data until March 28, 2020, the spread of this virus has reached 200 countries with a total of 593,656 cases. A total of 132,526 cases recovered and 27,215 died.
The same data for Indonesia, until the same day there were 1,155 cases, 994 were treated, 102 died, and 59 were cured.
Seeing the description above, it is predicted that the number of cases will continue to grow. The cause is not singular: lack of government anticipation, readiness for medical treatment, and human interaction that is difficult to control.
According to the prediction of the Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Mathematics scientist Solo Sutanto Sastvyja the peak of the virus infection will occur in May 2020 and must be stopped on the hundredth day of June 10 2020.
If not, the impact of this pandemic will undermine the joints of the Indonesian economy.
The Virtual revolution
The policy of working at home, studying at home, and worshiping from home is an effort to break the chain of Corona viruses that makes us have to deal with a new reality, a virtual world.
The internet is seen as a world in another form, which is cyberspace. All aspects of real world life are in it, such as business, politics, economics, and so on.
The presence of the Internet is now a new cultural space. Corona virus seems to be a determinant of cultural "revolution" in society. Technology so quickly and so greatly affects the civilization of humanity.
In this condition the development of information technology has changed the shape of human society from the local world community to the global world community, a world that is very transparent to the development of information.
Now, we are so intense using information technology in our various daily activities.
Furthermore, even in worship there are changes that inevitably are made for the safety of humanity.
Praying at home, alone, or worshiping together online, becomes a thing to do, even virtual Internet-based study began to demand the people rather than having to take part in public recitation for a long time.
Likewise, the pastor's sermon that aired online is the only choice that must be made.
The virtual space created during the "quarantine" period raises a new assumption that after this event, it will be difficult for us to escape from this virtual world.
Communication and dissemination of information turned out to be felt so easily and quickly among coworkers, families, lecturers, and students with unlimited access by space and time.
In the current conditions we seem to have just realized that the Internet provides everything, entertainment, news, and can also access radio broadcasts, television, and newspapers online.
The effects of the Corona Virus spread directly or indirectly cause a turbulent social, economic, political and cultural structure.
Human relations are expected to change significantly after this event.
The era of the industrial revolution 4.0 brought humans to interact virtually, unlimited space and time. This pandemic then proves that we really can be connected without having to come to the office.
The basic principles of marketing that have been used for decades began to collapse.
A new economy is emerging. Many businesses and businesses fall out because management has failed to transform or has lost the market.
However, on the other hand virtual space fosters coworking space, a place to collaborate for various startups, players in the creative industry, freelancers, communities, entrepreneurs, to students.
Cultural boundaries of the past now seem to have been torn down by technological advancements. We live in a world that has lost its limits but instead narrows space to interact physically, Yasraf Amir Piliang once wrote it in the Folded World Book.
It is realized that economic growth will continue to experience development with the transition to new technology.
Online business will be the choice in virtual technology. Business is easier to manage in the Internet age.
Rapid change and unimaginable things are happening now.
We are moving in the virtual direction, reducing social interaction in real space.
We, who were not familiar with online learning (in the network) or home schooling, are now forced to do it, and maybe many enjoy it.
Changing patterns of interaction will be a wave of major changes that have been brought by the Internet in recent years.
Have we ever imagined that we are entering a new revolution whose cause is the Corona Virus?
Potential sectors that will be disrupted by this pandemic include schools, universities, business entities, and many other sectors. It is not impossible that these sectors in the future will strengthen the online approach rather than offline.
Cultural changes that produce new societies have taken place and are still moving. This is the moment we feel and experience an extraordinary technological leap. All learning and work activities are carried out at home, such as tutorials, writing work reports, uploading videos done virtually.
Smartphones, personal computers, consoles, and virtual reality are tools and bridges of the factual world into the virtual world. This tool also has a major influence on the formation of new cultures, namely virtual culture.
Cyberspace gradually affects humans, through equipment that is easy to operate, communication that shortens the distance between concrete and virtual words.
The Corona virus pandemic forced and demanded that something new be followed and could not be avoided.
The virtual world becomes a new "reality" that must be explored because it is so vast and dynamic.
The prediction that we will become a digital society is in sight, accelerated by the presence of the Corona virus.
We might really see Indonesia as a digital literate society that will change many sectors of life in a more advanced direction.
